An Interview with Lance
What do you do at Liberty?
I am an operations loader, heavy machine operator. I check and monitor machines – making sure oil and gasoline levels are good before starting production. I’m operating the wheel loader to load the hoppers with material while monitoring mixing ratios and cleaning the floor as I go.
Favorite part about the job?
How peaceful it is while operating. I can go into a state of flow and keep moving. I like working with the truck drivers to communicate where they need to go to keep things running smoothly.
What is your background? Work? Education?
I’ve worked in warehousing in multiple places – Walmarts, Shurfine. I’ve worked in packaging which was a lot of manual labor. I ran multiple types of machines (CPR, QPR, highlights, forklifts).
When you're not working how do you like to spend your time?
Usually on the farm, taking care of the animals. Feeding mostly. Helping my mom with anything that she needs such as butchering, etc.
What is your favorite meal you've shared as a team?
Pizza, Subs
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Tennessee – mainly because I like the mountain views out there
If you could have any super power, what would it be?
Telekinesis – the ability to move objects with my mind.
What lessons have you learned while working at Liberty?
Communication is key to making a company more productive. You can’t be shy of talking and say what you need to say.
